Serve IN

THE CHURCH

MANY MEMBERS OF ONE BODY

The Apostle Paul, when writing to the Corinthian church, explained that the local church is to function as if they were part of one body. Each individual, gifted uniquely by the Lord, has a role to play in building up the local church (the body of Christ), allowing it to function properly as it seeks to be a beacon for the gospel in local communities (1 Cor. 12:12–27). There is no more practical application of that than utilizing the specific ways the Lord has made you to serve and build up other believers in the church. The Apostle Peter says the same thing in his first letter, writing that whether we are gifted in speaking or serving we ought to minister to other believers with the gifts the Lord has entrusted to us (1 Peter 4:10–11).

Below are some key areas in need of regular volunteers — please consider how you might use your giftedness to build up the body of Christ here at Grace Simi!

AREAS OF SERVING

Worship & Tech

A whole host of gifts are required to consistently and faithfully lead God's people in worship on Sunday mornings. We are always looking for more musicians, audio/visual techs, and those who love working on media in general. If this is an area you are gifted or passionate about, there are a variety of ways you can be involved and serve the body at Grace on Sunday mornings and beyond.

Hospitality

Hospitality is the process of showing God's love to others, particularly to those who do not yet know him. As Christians, we rejoice in this opportunity for we remember what it was like to not yet know the Lord! Church ministry provides a variety of situations where we are able to "host" our fellow believers as well as those who are visiting and we are always looking for folks who love the opportunity to help us make a good impression on those who attend here!

Care

One of the beautiful realities of living in the community of the church is the wonderful opportunity it provides to serve those who are in need of some love and assistance. If you're interested in visiting individuals, bringing meals, writing notes or otherwise caring for those who have a difficult time participating on Sunday mornings then this is a great opportunity for you to get involved in meeting the tangible needs of the body.

Grace Kids

Each Sunday morning, Grace enlists approximately twenty adult kid's ministry workers and about ten student helpers to facilitate Children's Sunday School during our weekly worship service. Individuals who are willing and able to serve in this area of ministry are asked to commit to one Sunday morning per month throughout the year.

College/Youth Volunteer Staff

A variety of qualified and faithful adults serve as "staff" within College, High School and Junior High ministry. These individuals commit to serve within these ministries on a regular, weekly basis and pursue discipleship relationships with our students during these critical years of their growth and development. We are always looking for more individuals or couples who are interested in serving in this capacity. If you are interested in learning more or being trained to serve in these areas please let us know and one of our directors will contact you with more information.
